After entering with 任贤齐’s “心太软,” Jonny won a Chinese-language singing competition and began appearing in larger televised contests.

In 2004, Jonny Blu became the first non-Chinese artist to sign with a Chinese music label, See Music, Ltd. (汉星音乐公司), in Hong Kong. He went on to build a pop career in the Chinese music world, with three top-ten songs and a “Hot New Artist” award at the 2005 Hong Kong Metro Music Awards. His Mandarin-pop catalog and “Jonny Blu: Pop Hits of China” concert continue to document that chapter of his career.
